Director, Enterprise Strategic Initiatives

Location: Carlsbad, California; hybrid, site-based role with 3–4 days per week in the Carlsbad office and remaining days remote. US citizenship is required.

Salary: $164,500–$260,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $204,500–$306,500 annually.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise project portfolio, governance standards, stage-gate model, operating cadence, templates, tools, and executive reporting.
• Define and apply criteria for enterprise strategic projects and shape the portfolio through prioritization and pruning.
• Lead benefit tracking with FP&A, including financial validation, sustainment auditing, and quantitative performance measurement.
• Personally manage the most complex cross-functional enterprise initiatives and remove escalated delivery bottlenecks.
• Lead, coach, develop, select, and evaluate project and program managers.
• Translate strategic objectives into a funded, sequenced, and governed portfolio and communicate risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to executive and board-level audiences.

Requirements

• US citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 10–12+ years of progressive experience leading complex cross-functional projects and programs, including at least 5 years managing portfolios.
• At least 3 years of direct people management experience leading experienced project or program managers.
• Experience establishing or materially improving portfolio governance, stage-gate processes, or a PMO operating model in a matrixed organization.
• Knowledge of earned value management, portfolio and project management, financial benefit modeling, Lean or Six Sigma, and project portfolio tooling; experience with data and AI-enabled tools.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree.
• PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
• Lean or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with Kaizen, daily management, OKRs, Obeya, visual management, or strategy deployment methods.
