Principal Engineer (Python/Linux)

What you will do

• Set technical direction and architecture standards for backend and infrastructure systems across the Hosting organization.
• Design and evolve large-scale Python backend services running on Linux and backed by MySQL.
• Modernize Perl-based and cPanel-integrated systems without disrupting live customer sites or provisioning automations.
• Drive site reliability engineering practices, incident response, system hardening, and root-cause analysis for high-impact production issues.
• Define and measure organization-wide standards for AI-augmented delivery, including code review, provenance, licensing, and customer-data handling.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and influence multi-quarter technical roadmaps.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, including hands-on hosting-platform expertise.
• Expert-level Python and Linux knowledge in production-scale environments.
• Strong MySQL expertise covering performance tuning, schema design, and large-scale troubleshooting.
• Deep hands-on experience with Perl and cPanel, including modernization of legacy systems without service disruption.
• Proven technical leadership, mentoring experience, and the ability to influence decisions across multiple teams.
• Experience using AI across the delivery lifecycle and establishing standards for AI-generated code, security, compliance, provenance, and licensing.

Nice to have

• Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering and infrastructure practices.
• Experience applying patterns for systemic resilience, fault isolation, and operational governance.
