Storage Engineer (AI/HPC)

Location: Remote – US; Durham, North Carolina, US

Salary: $94,000–$117,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Install, configure, build, and create data storage arrays aligned with customer availability requirements.
• Manage DDN, Pure, and VAST SAN and NAS environments.
• Provision storage resources and configure storage pools, volumes, and snapshots.
• Implement data protection strategies, including backups and replication.
• Monitor performance and capacity, troubleshoot storage issues, and perform routine maintenance.
• Document configurations and procedures, participate in a weekly on-call rotation, and stay current with storage technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in storage administration.
• Proven experience with DDN and VAST storage solutions and a strong understanding of SAN and NAS architectures.
• Knowledge of FC, iSCSI, and NFS storage protocols, plus experience with DDN SFA or VAST Management Console.
• Strong Linux systems administration, open-source technology, troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with a team, and support a customer-facing role.

Nice to have

• Experience with storage virtualization technologies such as VMware vSAN or EMC VPLEX.
• Experience with AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience with high-performance and parallel file systems for HPC, AI, and cloud environments.
• HPC cluster administration experience.
