Structural Systems Architect (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto, Canada

What you will do

• Lead conceptual and preliminary design of structural architectures, interfaces, surfacing, and systems integration.
• Develop layouts, sizing, configurations, and trade studies for primary and secondary structures.
• Coordinate structural design with aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, and systems engineering.
• Lead and contribute to design reviews while improving design processes and methodologies.
• Set modelling standards and workflows for structures and systems teams.
• Represent structures and systems engineering in program reviews, customer interactions, and supplier engagements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of aerospace structural design experience at an OEM or equivalent.
• Experience spanning aerodynamics, propulsion, materials, and Part 23/25 certification.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, or NX, plus familiarity with ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Altair.
• Strong knowledge of metallic and composite materials and design-for-manufacturing trade-offs.
• Advanced surface modelling experience for conceptual layouts.
• Ability to establish processes and standards in an evolving design organization.

Nice to have

• Experience in an aerospace startup or advanced air mobility program.
• Published technical work or patents in structural or aerospace design.
• Knowledge of FAA, TCCA, or EASA regulations beyond the primary certification basis.
• Flight test, hardware integration, manufacturing support, in-service, or flight support experience.
