Data Analytics Intern – Summer 2027

Location: Hybrid position in Richmond, Virginia, United States

Salary: $23.00–$26.00 per hour, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Extract, examine, analyze, and interpret large-scale structured and unstructured data related to claims, policies, and payments.
• Apply data manipulation, mining, analysis, and modeling techniques to solve complex business problems and improve speed to insight.
• Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and automated repeatable reporting solutions that support self-service analytics.
• Validate data and contribute to analytics projects that improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across IT, Operations, CareScout Services, and other areas.
• Present project accomplishments to organizational leadership and attend on-site technical and professional development classes.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mathematics, data science, statistics, operations research, or another analytical or technical discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
• Experience with relational database management systems such as SQL Server, Greenplum, or Oracle.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills for non-technical audiences.
• Leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, accountability, and self-motivation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with big data technologies such as Databricks, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, or Hive.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, or Python.
