Big Data Analyst

Location: On-site in Herndon, Virginia, with work at the customer site in Springfield, Virginia as needed

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Evaluate datasets and develop assessments that inform government decision-making.
• Shape data engineering approaches to improve analytical tradecraft within applications.
• Identify and document gaps in data corpora and analytical capabilities.
• Collaborate with software developers to define requirements, provide feedback, and validate application changes.
• Support end users with subject-matter expertise on data and application questions.
• Work with Big Data, ETL, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams on applications backed by a self-managed cloud infrastructure exceeding 20 petabytes.

Requirements

• Current and active TS/SCI clearance required, with willingness and ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or in a similar role.
• Experience developing repeatable data-evaluation processes and communicating findings to government officials.
• In-depth knowledge of technical telemetry, telecommunications protocol, cellular, Wi-Fi, or similar data types.
• Experience with a scripting or data language such as Python, SQL, Spark, or PySpark, plus the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

• Geospatial analysis experience, including Activity-Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, GitLab, Jupyter Notebooks, or Apache Zeppelin.
• Experience developing and documenting innovative analytical methodologies.
• Customer-facing experience and work with intelligence analysts or special operations customers.
