Accounting Policy Lead (Insurance)

What you will do

• Monitor, research, and evaluate new or changing accounting and financial reporting guidance, including FASB and NAIC standard-setting activities.
• Support changes to accounting policies, processes, procedures, and related controls.
• Analyze and document accounting policies for significant, unusual, or new transactions.
• Prepare technical accounting position papers, financial statement disclosures, and related policy documentation.
• Draft and review financial statements and notes for appropriate accounting policy application and disclosure.
• Partner with management, internal audit, external audit, and other functions as a subject matter expert in accounting policy and financial reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 5+ years of auditing or financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of insurance statutory accounting and US GAAP.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, prioritization, and independent working skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Big Four public accounting experience.
• Experience with SEC-registered companies, insurance or financial services, or investment asset accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
