Sample Receiving Supervisor (Environmental Testing)

Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA; candidates should live within commuting distance.

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year

What you will do

• Oversee daily sample receiving operations, including sample login, verification, chain-of-custody review, and distribution.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, QA/QC protocols, departmental procedures, and corporate SOPs.
• Coordinate schedules, staffing resources, timekeeping reviews, productivity, turnaround times, and performance metrics.
• Train, coach, support, and delegate work to Sample Receiving personnel.
• Coordinate communication with laboratory departments, project management, and client services.
• Investigate sample discrepancies, documentation issues, and customer concerns while supporting continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of laboratory, sample receiving, sample login, or related environmental testing experience.
• Ability to work standing for most of the day and lift up to 55 pounds.
• Strong computer, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.

Nice to have

• At least 1 year of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience.
• Experience with environmental samples, chain of custody, sample login, collection kit preparation, or environmental laboratories.
• Experience delegating tasks and supporting employee development and training.
