Security Engineer (AI)

Location: In-person role based in the London or San Francisco office, with some work-from-home arrangements

Salary: $214,000–$280,000 in San Francisco; £144,000–£189,000 in London

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate security controls for identity and access management, cloud infrastructure, endpoints, and incident response.
• Develop paved roads that make secure practices the default and easiest path across the organization.
• Establish security practices, communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs, and build trust with non-security stakeholders.
• Evaluate vendors and tooling, make build-versus-buy decisions, and assess third-party security posture.
• Lead security projects from ideation through implementation and rollout, including zero-trust migration, sandbox hardening, and agentic SOC development.
• Lead incident response activities, including containment, root-cause analysis, and post-mortem remediation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on technical security experience, beyond purely GRC or compliance work.
• Ability to read code, understand infrastructure, evaluate technical controls, and reason about threat models and failure modes.
• Direct experience with application security, cloud security, or product security.
• Engineering mindset with strong automation, systems thinking, and willingness to build custom security solutions.
• Track record of influencing security practices without formal authority and working effectively in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to work in person from the London or San Francisco office; visa sponsorship is available in the UK and US, subject to role and candidate eligibility.

Nice to have

• Software engineering experience.
• Experience with zero-trust architectures, sandboxing, detection engineering, GRC engineering, or incident response.
• Hands-on endpoint management experience with Kandji, Jamf, or similar tools.
• Experience with identity and access management.

Hiring process

• Screening interview followed by a take-home test lasting approximately 2–3 hours.
• Three technical interviews and a final interview with the CEO.
• No general LeetCode-style coding interviews; AI tools may be used during the take-home test.
