Summer Associate 2027 (Civil Construction)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, with projects in Richmond, Chesterfield, and Hampton Roads

Salary: $18.00–$23.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support estimating by soliciting subcontractor bids, evaluating preliminary bids, completing quantity takeoffs, and scoping bid packages.
• Assist field supervision with self-perform and subcontractor crews, including schedule planning, daily quantity tracking, ticket management, and timecard review.
• Support project and financial administration through subcontract management, payment request reviews, submittals, and RFI tracking.
• Track change orders and project budgets across civil construction projects ranging from $1 million to more than $500 million.
• Build working relationships with customers and coworkers while learning construction operations, company culture, and policies.
• Participate in networking, community service, and professional learning opportunities through the Summer Associate Program.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old and currently authorized to work full-time in the United States.
• Outstanding communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Team-player mindset with leadership abilities.
• General understanding of, or interest in, the heavy highway and civil construction industry.
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally.
• Computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screening is required.
