Principal Frontend (Geospatial)/WebGL Engineer

What you will do

• Own the technical vision, architecture, roadmap, and end-to-end delivery of the frontend platform.
• Design and build high-performance interactive applications with real-time 2D/3D geospatial visualizations using WebGL.
• Set frontend engineering standards and ensure clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Lead, mentor, and review the work of frontend developers while solving complex engineering problems.
• Integrate frontend components with products, backend services, and REST APIs.
• Optimize rendering performance, memory usage, load times, and software rollouts for large datasets and complex systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience delivering large, complex systems.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, event-loop behavior, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Experience building real-time map-rendering pipelines with WebGL, GLSL shaders, Three.js, CesiumJS, or Mapbox GL.
• Knowledge of geospatial datasets, map projections, coordinate reference systems, and vector or raster tile streams.
• Expertise with a major frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue, plus scalable frontend architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with REST API integration, unit testing, modern build and CI tooling, and technical leadership. Fluency in English is required.
