Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, hirify.global office. The role includes recurring travel to ADNOC offshore facilities on a rotational basis for site surveys, brownfield assessments, installation verification, and engineering data collection.

What you will do

• Lead all Instrumentation & Control engineering activities and deliverables across concept studies, FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Direct and mentor I&C engineers and designers while managing execution strategies, resources, schedules, budgets, technical integrity, and quality.
• Lead brownfield modifications, debottlenecking, facility upgrades, control system migrations, site surveys, shutdown campaigns, tie-ins, and constructability assessments.
• Provide technical authority for instrumentation, automation, control systems, functional safety, SIS, DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, RTU, SCADA, and field instrumentation systems.
• Coordinate with clients, project teams, vendors, OEMs, and other engineering disciplines through design reviews, procurement, construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Lead functional safety activities, including SRS development, SIL determination and verification, SIF reviews, FSA support, and closure of HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, CHAZOP, and cybersecurity recommendations.

Requirements

• Minimum 17 years of Instrumentation & Control engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG, or energy sectors.
• 8–10 years of experience in a Lead Engineer, Senior Lead Engineer, or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience delivering offshore and onshore brownfield and greenfield projects, including FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, PMC, construction, and commissioning.
• Extensive knowledge of ADNOC projects, engineering practices, and technical standards, together with experience in offshore production facilities and related infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Electronics & Communication Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with at least six months’ validity are preferred for offshore activities.

Nice to have

• Experience with control system migration, modernization, and digital transformation projects.
• Professional certifications in instrumentation, automation, or functional safety, such as ISA, TUV FSE, EXIDA, or IEC certifications.
• Proficiency with AVEVA Instrumentation, SPI, INSTRUCALC, and related I&C engineering tools.
