Senior Software Engineer - Build Platform (Bazel)

Location: Australia, with the flagship campus in Sydney and additional campuses or co-working spaces in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. Flexible choice in where and how to work is available. Interviews are conducted virtually.

What you will do

• Develop self-service infrastructure that helps engineering teams work more efficiently.
• Build and improve CI/CD systems, build systems, test frameworks, cloud integrations, and developer tools.
• Design and optimise workflows for building, testing, and deploying a large monorepo architecture.
• Roll out build-related best practices and tools across product engineering services.
• Scale remote execution infrastructure and improve Bazel support for Rust, React Native, C++, and WebAssembly toolchains.
• Participate in solution design, code reviews, hiring interviews, mentoring, and developer experience improvements.

Requirements

• Professional experience with developer tools, build systems, and large monorepo build infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience maintaining and improving large-scale build infrastructure; Bazel experience is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to investigate complex build and runtime errors and guide or mentor other engineers.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
