Data Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: United States, Canada, or London. The role is remote-friendly but maintains a strong presence in offices in Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul.

Compensation: CA$285K–CA$340K (Canada); $235K–$285K (CA, NY, WA); $200K–$240K (Other US states).

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate a distributed storage system for model training and evaluation.
• Manage petabyte-scale storage on Kubernetes clusters.
• Collaborate with research and training-infra teams to define data throughput, latency, and durability requirements.
• Solve complex networking, I/O, and consistency challenges for large datasets across regions.

Requirements

• Strong storage fundamentals including replication, consistency, caching, and data lifecycle management.
• Strong coding ability in Python or Go with a willingness to learn the other.
• Experience running stateful systems on Kubernetes (Persistent Volumes, CSI drivers, StatefulSets).
• Hands-on experience with cloud object storage (S3) and POSIX-style filesystems.

Nice to have

• Experience with parallel or HPC filesystems like Weka, VAST, or Lustre.
• Familiarity with data-loading and checkpointing patterns in large-scale model training.
