Principal Hydraulic Engineer (Buildings)

Location: Hybrid role based in Brisbane or Sydney, Australia. Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Act as the Hydraulics Lead across building projects and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Lead hydraulic designs and calculations, including technical reviews, sign-off, task delegation, and engineer development.
• Work with clients and project stakeholders to define requirements, constraints, and cost-effective hydraulic solutions.
• Support the national Hydraulics team across complex projects and sectors.
• Deliver designs for rainwater harvesting, sanitary plumbing, drainage, trade waste, potable and non-potable water, hot and warm water, solar hot water, reverse osmosis, and demineralised water systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hydraulic engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards, codes, and industry requirements.
• Relevant engineering degree or TAFE qualification.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or the ability to obtain it.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
• Australian Citizenship or a pathway to Australian Citizenship is highly preferred for some projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with Revit and relevant industry software.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
