Senior Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: 100% remote within Spain; Málaga. Full-time availability during the UK time zone is required.

What you will do

• Build and scale a modern data platform using Databricks.
• Develop the Databricks engineering framework under the guidance of the Central Platform Team.
• Establish reusable development patterns and advance the core codebase.
• Implement design patterns, reusable frameworks, and modular data pipelines.
• Collaborate effectively in a platform-guided engineering environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Data Platform Engineer working with Databricks.
• Strong proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and Python within the Databricks ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with VS Code and Git/GitHub workflows.
• Experience implementing reusable frameworks and modular data pipelines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work full-time within the UK time zone while located in Spain.

Nice to have

• Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Medallion Architecture.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for code.
