AI Software Engineering PhD Intern

Location: On-site in Phoenix, Arizona, or Hillsboro, Oregon, United States.

Annual salary: $170,598–$170,602 USD.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize AI software solutions, including algorithms, frameworks, and AI software architectures.
• Work across computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning applications.
• Implement and tune AI models for performance and accuracy.
• Contribute to applied research, hardware-software integration, and system-level deployment of scalable AI solutions.
• Create AI software solutions with internal product teams and external partners.
• Build practical skills through hands-on projects supporting hirify.global business goals.

Requirements

• Be a PhD candidate in an accredited engineering or computer science program with an emphasis on Artificial hirify.globalligence.
• Have research or coursework related to federated learning, image classification, multiscale attention for object detection, computer vision, image processing, and feature engineering.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a proven record of academic success.
• Have research or coursework experience with explainability tools.
• Have experience with data engineering and preparation, including feature engineering, data imbalance, and noisy datasets.
• Have a strong grasp of linear algebra, statistics, and probability.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, self-motivation, and teamwork skills.
• Have experience or skills with Python, C++, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.
• Be familiar with Git, cloud and cloud concepts, containers, Docker, and MLOps.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying AI applications in production environments requiring high precision and accuracy.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or a similar industry.
• First-author publications in top computer vision conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, or NeurIPS.
• A portfolio of computer vision or image AI projects, including open-source contributions, research papers, or projects.
