TL;DR
New Product Development Engineering Co-Op (MedTech): Supporting the design, testing, documentation, and market introduction of shoulder reconstruction implants, instruments, and related technologies with an accent on medical device development, 3D modeling, and mechanical testing. Focus on designing implants and instruments, creating test fixtures, evaluating device performance with surgeons, and leading portions of design control documentation.

Location: Raynham, Massachusetts, United States. Flexible hybrid arrangement with onsite and work-from-home options from January through June 2027. Relocation support is available.

Salary: $23.50–$52.50 per hour.

What you will do

  • Support multidisciplinary R&D projects spanning design, conceptualization, testing, and market introduction of shoulder reconstruction implants and instruments.
  • Work with senior engineers on implant, instrument, and test fixture design.
  • Perform product testing, document results, and prepare testing reports.
  • Create and lead design control documentation for product development activities.
  • Assess device performance in cadaveric settings and gather surgeon feedback.
  • Lead portions of product development and value creation initiatives with support from an assigned mentor.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, biomechanical, biomedical, or related engineering.
  • Interest in orthopaedic medical devices and digital surgery techniques.
  • 3D modeling skills; NX Unigraphics and SolidWorks are preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools and performing mechanical testing, with proven problem-solving and technical communication skills.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 and availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the co-op semester.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. Own transportation is required because the site is not within walking distance of the train station.

Nice to have

  • Previous co-op experience in R&D, manufacturing, or an equivalent role at a medical device company.
