Publisher - Medicine & Health Journals (12 Month Fixed Term Maternity Cover) (Oncology)

Location: Hybrid in the UK, with attendance at the London Blackfriars or Milton Park office three days per week or more; candidates must live within commuting distance.

What you will do

• Manage and develop a portfolio of oncology journals through strategic plans focused on quality, growth, profitability, and article volume.
• Oversee P&Ls, revenue targets, market analysis, competitor intelligence, and transitions of acquired journal titles.
• Build partnerships with academic societies, journal editors, editorial boards, and wider academic communities.
• Commission and acquire new content and represent the journals at conferences and editorial board meetings.
• Improve publishing processes, publication quality, compliance, and operational efficiency across departments.
• Support negotiations and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven experience in scholarly publishing and knowledge of publishing policies and best practices.
• Interest in publication ethics, funder mandates, and industry trends, with subject expertise or interest in a relevant field.
• Experience working with editors, editorial boards, academic societies, and external partners.
• Experience recruiting and engaging academic editors.
• Understanding of financial reporting and analysis, including previous P&L responsibility, plus market analysis experience.
• Right to work and live in the UK, and flexibility to accommodate meetings with colleagues in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
