Systems Engineer / Verification Engineer (Defence)

Location: Adelaide, Australia. Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence security clearance.

What you will do

• Define verification strategies covering test levels, coverage targets, traceability, and entry and exit criteria.
• Review system and software requirements and develop robust test cases and procedures aligned with VCRMs.
• Lead formal test events and contribute to incremental software release and system integration testing.
• Generate Objective Quality Evidence demonstrating compliance with system requirements, safety and security cases, and contractual or regulatory standards.
• Manage defects, participate in triage, review test artefacts, and support audits and independent verification activities.
• Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, integration, ILS, safety, and cyber teams to reduce downstream risk.

Requirements

• Experience in Verification and Validation within complex software-intensive systems.
• Strong background in test planning, test case development, and test execution.
• Experience identifying and managing defects within structured engineering processes.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
• Ability to critically assess system behaviour and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Operational or trials experience in a naval or maritime environment.
• Exposure to Defence standards, safety cases, or mission and system assurance frameworks.
