Financial Crime Operations Officer (Crypto)

Location: Hybrid work between the Melbourne CBD office and home, Australia. Working days are Tuesday to Saturday, 38 hours per week.

Cryptocurrency services provider supporting customer accounts, fund transfers, personal data handling, and regulatory compliance across multiple countries.

What you will do

• Monitor transactions and account activity to detect money laundering, fraud, and other financial crime.
• Conduct customer onboarding, KYC, and enhanced customer due diligence reviews for individuals, companies, trusts, and self-managed super funds.
• Review and action watchlist screening alerts in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate suspicious activity and assist with submitting suspicious matter reports to relevant authorities.
• Conduct occasional outbound customer calls during onboarding and throughout customer relationships.
• Resolve financial crime escalations from customer support and other internal teams, supporting the Global FinCrime Operations Manager as needed.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a similar role and an interest in financial crime prevention.
• Understanding of KYC and ECDD processes and relevant legislation.
• Basic understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to identify unusual behavior.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Excellent written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to contribute in a team environment.
