Medical Records Technician (Healthcare)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; hybrid work with travel to medical facilities and hospitals

Salary: $18–$21 per hour or $3 per record, whichever is higher. Paid semi-monthly.

What you will do

• Travel to medical facilities and hospitals with a company-provided laptop and portable scanner.
• Retrieve, scan, digitize, organize, and electronically store patient medical records.
• Maintain accurate and complete record systems and file paperwork promptly.
• Follow HIPAA standards and confidentiality procedures when handling patient information.
• Communicate with medical staff, healthcare providers, and other healthcare personnel.
• Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license, clean motor vehicle record, personal vehicle, and active insurance in the applicant’s name.
• Ability to provide vehicle registration documentation and drive 60–80 miles or more round-trip.
• Internet access at home and basic PC and office equipment skills.
• Availability from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the applicable time zone to visit required facilities.
• Ability to work part time in a seasonal position, with potential extension based on project requirements.

Nice to have

• Healthcare experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical office.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records or Electronic Medical Records systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Knowledge of medical chart structure and terminology.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, printers, and scanners.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
