TL;DR
Sr Principal Electrical Engineer (CRM) (mixed-signal medical electronics): Designing, integrating, and verifying high-reliability electronics for implantable cardiac devices and external patient systems with an accent on analog, mixed-signal, digital, RF, and PCB design. Focus on leading complex R&D programs, owning hardware blocks, debugging hardware/firmware interactions, and developing safety-critical verification and test automation.

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area; onsite at least 5 days per week

Salary: $176,800–$265,200 USD per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for complex cardiac rhythm management R&D programs and mentor electrical engineers.
  • Define, design, integrate, and verify mixed-signal electronics for implantable cardiac devices and external patient systems.
  • Own critical hardware blocks, including requirements, design documentation, simulation, characterization, troubleshooting, and verification.
  • Lead circuit analysis, root-cause investigations, hardware/firmware debugging, and design improvements.
  • Develop test plans, automated test environments, emulators, production test requirements, and system-level verification strategies.
  • Coordinate with program management, firmware, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and global production teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 8 years, or a PhD with at least 6 years.
  • Experience with analog, mixed-signal, digital, RF, or PCB-based electrical design and analysis.
  • Experience with PCB design methodology, CAD tools, circuit simulation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong hands-on debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, RF analyzers, and low-current or low-noise measurement tools.
  • Experience with high-reliability or safety-critical products, preferably Class III medical devices.
  • U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PSPICE, LTspice, MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW for simulation, modeling, test automation, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14708, IEC 60601, or comparable medical-device standards.
  • RF design or RF performance evaluation experience.
  • Experience with technical leadership and cross-disciplinary influence.
