Web Application Architect (Azure)

What you will do

• Define web application architecture standards, reference designs, technology roadmaps, and reusable front-end engineering patterns.
• Lead architecture decisions and modernization initiatives for customer-facing, partner-facing, and internal transactional applications.
• Design component-based front-end architectures, design systems, interaction patterns, and accessible responsive user experiences.
• Architect insurance workflows for submissions, quoting, servicing, approvals, document handling, and other multi-step business transactions.
• Design API-first, Backend-for-Frontend, REST, GraphQL, webhook, event-driven, and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Guide UX/UI, engineering, integration, security, quality assurance, DevOps, product, and business teams while mentoring technical professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 4+ years in web application architecture, solution architecture, or senior full-stack engineering.
• Strong experience with interactive, responsive, accessible, and transactional web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React, or Angular.
• Experience with component libraries, design systems, state management, automated testing, UI/UX, REST APIs, microservices, and Backend-for-Frontend solutions.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms, SaaS products, vendor APIs, webhooks, and external identity providers.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, single sign-on, browser and API security, OWASP risks, performance, scalability, observability, transaction integrity, and failure recovery.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or human-computer interaction.
• Insurance or financial services experience and experience with self-service portals.
• Figma, Storybook, prototyping tools, design systems, content delivery networks, web application firewalls, caching, real-user monitoring, or digital analytics experience.
• Experience with Azure App Service, Static Web Apps, Front Door, API Management, Functions, Kubernetes Service, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
• Exposure to AWS, enterprise architecture frameworks, governance models, Agile product delivery, and integrations involving acquired businesses or carrier platforms.
