What you will do
- Conduct collections-based research on Poaceae diversification and ecology.
- Develop research questions and sampling designs using herbarium collections and targeted field collections.
- Generate, manage, analyze, and synthesize genomic, phenomic, trait, spatial, environmental, and taxonomic data.
- Conduct phylogeographic, species delimitation, and evolutionary analyses.
- Prepare manuscripts, datasets, figures, reports, presentations, and grant materials.
- Maintain research records and reproducible workflows while supporting herbarium, laboratory, field, workshop, and outreach activities.
Requirements
- PhD in botany, biology, ecology and evolutionary biology, plant systematics, plant biology, biodiversity science, or a related field by the start date.
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to organize specimens, data, analyses, and manuscripts.
- Ability to prepare research papers, reports, grant materials, and presentations.
- Work may include fieldwork travel, work after normal business hours, and weekend work when required.
- Must follow Texas A&M University safety, data management, and collections policies.
Nice to have
- Research emphasis in plant systematics, evolutionary biology, phylogeography, population genomics, ecology, Poaceae, or herbarium science.
- Experience with phylogenetics, morphometrics, comparative methods, plant taxonomy, biodiversity informatics, or phylogenomic and population genomic workflows.
- Experience with R, Python, Git/GitHub, GIS and spatial analysis, herbarium curation, voucher collection, plant identification, spectral reflectance, or trait modeling.
- Valid driver license for fieldwork travel.
