Location: 75 Steel City Ct, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Onsite role with rotating bi-weekly shifts: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.

Salary: CAD 26.50 per hour, with overtime after 44 hours.

What you will do

  • Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for grades, quality issues, contaminants, hazardous materials, and other non-conformities.
  • Verify that materials meet company and customer quality specifications.
  • Coordinate the movement, sorting, and safe handling of materials throughout the yard.
  • Complete daily quality and site checks, including pile quality, truck inspections, and overnight loads.
  • Communicate quality concerns, downgrades, deductions, and required actions to Operations, Supervisors, and Commercial teams.
  • Direct inbound trucks and support training for inspection and external teams on quality, procedures, and safety.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in materials inspection within the metal recycling industry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their properties, contaminants, and impurities.
  • Familiarity with inspection and measurement equipment, including scales, calipers, and magnet testers.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping.
  • Comfort working in a heavy industrial environment and in varying weather conditions.
