Patient Access Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Ardent - UT Health Tyler in Tyler, Texas; candidates must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration duties for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Complete medical necessity and compliance checks, including ABN screening for Medicare patients.
• Explain consent, observation, Medicare, Tricare, and other patient forms; obtain required signatures and documentation.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Audit patient accounts, correct documentation issues, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at the Tyler, Texas hospital location.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
