Senior Backend Engineer - Device Platform (IoT)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; onsite five days per week

Annual pay range: $190,000–$275,000 USD

What you will do

• Architect and deliver major Device Platform features, including the IoT core, device metrics platform, and licensing ledger.
• Build and scale backend services for device provisioning, OTA firmware rollout, and device licensing.
• Improve system robustness, reduce pager noise, and lead incident learning and operational improvements.
• Communicate technical direction through design reviews, code reviews, and clear written proposals.
• Mentor engineers and align the platform roadmap with product teams across hirify.global.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building backend services with consistency, latency, and uptime guarantees at scale.
• Fluency in at least one server-side language; Python or Go preferred, with Ruby or Node.js also considered.
• Experience shaping shared technical direction and delivering platform changes for other engineering teams.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for FedRAMP compliance.
• Onsite presence five days per week is required.
