TL;DR
Lead Scientist, Analytical R&D (Semiconductor Materials): Providing technical leadership for R&D analytical laboratories supporting semiconductor materials, with an accent on analytical method development, instrumentation strategy, and laboratory excellence. Focus on leading cross-functional investigations, solving product and process quality challenges, and implementing standardized analytical capabilities.

Location: Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea; onsite at the KTC facility

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for the KTC R&D analytical laboratories and drive analytical innovation.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop scientists and technicians while supporting technical excellence and team performance.
  • Develop analytical methods, training programs, laboratory procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations and analytical troubleshooting to identify root causes of product, process, and quality challenges.
  • Manage changes related to analytical methods, instrumentation, and laboratory processes.
  • Evaluate analytical technologies, analyze complex data, and communicate findings through technical reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience in analytical chemistry, materials characterization, semiconductor materials, or related technology fields.
  • Experience leading analytical laboratories, technical projects, and cross-functional scientific initiatives.
  • Expertise in HPLC, IC, GC, ICP-MS, FTIR, and related characterization tools, along with analytical method development, validation, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, trend analysis, laboratory performance metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment; international travel of approximately 10%–20% is required.

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with advanced deposition materials, specialty chemicals, blended clean chemistries, or semiconductor materials.
  • Experience with laboratory standardization across multiple facilities or regions.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, data visualization, and laboratory informatics tools.
  • Experience supporting customers with technical issues and product commercialization.
