Sr Director Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States; four days per week onsite. Candidates must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for this Director-level role.

Salary: $223,200–$334,800 USD annually, plus short-term and long-term incentive plans.

What you will do

• Develop and execute an enterprise VAVE strategy aligned with financial and innovation objectives.
• Lead a global VAVE organization of more than 40 people focused on margin expansion and customer value.
• Partner with business units, Operations, Supply Management, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Finance to prioritize and execute VAVE portfolios.
• Embed Design-for-Value and Design for Manufacturability practices across new product development and released product management.
• Lead value engineering activities including functional analysis, component optimization, supplier collaboration, manufacturing simplification, and technology insertion.
• Establish governance, KPIs, dashboards, benefit tracking, and organizational capability-building programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 15 years of progressive engineering, operations, or product development leadership experience, or an advanced degree with at least 13 years of experience.
• At least 10 years of people and program leadership experience.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide cross-functional initiatives in a highly matrixed global organization.
• Strong financial acumen and the ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; H-1B, TN, J, and similar sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or an MBA.
• Extensive VAVE, Design-for-Value, Product Cost Engineering, or Cost Optimization experience.
• Experience in medical devices, life sciences, aerospace, automotive, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience with Lean Product Development, Six Sigma, DFM, DFA, Design to Cost, supplier collaboration, and product commercialization.
• Experience influencing executives and leading organizational transformation.
