Coding Specialist (Healthcare Coding)

Salary: $45,761.00–$73,217.00 annually

What you will do

• Analyze medical records and charts to evaluate the appropriateness of provider coding.
• Identify complex coding patterns and report relevant data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
• Apply CMS Hierarchical Condition Category payment methodology and related compliance requirements.
• Build professional working relationships with medical providers and their staff to facilitate medical record reviews.
• Maintain documentation tracking audit results and review status.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
• Certified Professional Coder credential.
• Experience reviewing and assigning medical codes, preferably in health insurance, claims, payment integrity, or reimbursement.
• Strong understanding of Emergency Department coding and medical claim review processes.
• Ability to work remotely from North Carolina.
