Tempus+ Medical Director (Oncology)

Location: Remote - Illinois; travel up to 20% for on-site support, training, and relationship management.

Salary: $270,000–$320,000 annually in Illinois. Actual compensation may vary by location, qualifications, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead the Tempus+ collaborative research network and serve as the primary medical contact for participating institutions.
• Build relationships with academic and community physicians and foster collaborative research working groups.
• Support investigators throughout hypothesis generation, research proposal development, data exploration, and publication strategy.
• Shape clinically sound investigation strategies aligned with current oncology standards.
• Partner with data scientists, informaticians, and business development teams to translate complex data into clinical insights.
• Drive Lens utilization, molecular tumor boards, data integration, clinical trial portfolios, and medical presentations.

Requirements

• MD/DO or MD/DO/PhD with strong oncology or closely related clinical expertise.
• Experience directing multi-site observational projects, clinical registries, and precision medicine initiatives.
• Deep familiarity with medical informatics, advanced clinical data modeling, biomarker evaluation, and genomic testing.
• Experience using real-world data to solve complex oncology questions.
• Ability to build partnerships with medium- to large-sized cancer hospital networks and communicate complex molecular and technical data clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with sales, sales strategy, and marketing for commercial life science initiatives.
