Lead Medical Writer - Medical Communications (Oncology)

Location: Remote within the United States, or Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, or Chicago; ideally based on the East Coast.

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 per year, depending on location, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead writing and client contact for assigned oncology-focused medical communications accounts.
• Develop scientifically accurate content and publications, transforming complex data into clear communications for healthcare professionals.
• Provide scientific oversight and editorial review for large or complex projects and high-volume publication programs.
• Coordinate editorial, client, vendor, and project teams to deliver work on time, within budget, and in compliance with requirements.
• Brief, review, guide, and mentor less experienced writers.
• Support business development, client presentations, advisory boards, speaker-training meetings, and strategic project planning.

Requirements

• Degree in life sciences; PharmD or PhD is highly preferred.
• At least four years of medical or scientific writing experience, preferably in a healthcare consultancy or medical communications agency.
• Essential experience developing scientific content for oncology-focused accounts.
• Experience managing scientific content types, including high-volume publications, and reviewing content for accuracy and flow.
• Proven project ownership, problem-solving, client communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior writers and familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines for medical communications.
