Payroll DS Manager (Swiss Payroll)

Johnson & Johnson MedTech develops healthcare and medical technology solutions, with the role supporting the planned standalone DePuy Synthes orthopaedics business.

What you will do

• Lead a Payroll and Time & Attendance Hub supporting Switzerland, Germany, and other countries across the region.
• Ensure accurate, timely, compliant payroll processing, controls, reconciliations, approvals, and statutory reporting.
• Own Swiss payroll expertise, including withholding tax, social insurance, pensions, accident insurance, sick insurance, expatriate, and cross-border worker processes.
• Lead and develop payroll professionals in a matrixed environment, including succession planning, workforce planning, and coaching.
• Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, authorities, auditors, pension providers, and external payroll vendors.
• Drive payroll harmonization, digitization, automation, system implementations, vendor transitions, audit readiness, and SOX control improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of payroll experience and 5 years of people leadership experience.
• Proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations and regional or hub-based payroll teams.
• Extensive hands-on Swiss payroll experience, including Swiss legislation, tax, labor law, social insurance, audits, regulatory inspections, and cross-border or expatriate payroll.
• Strong knowledge of payroll controls, compliance, governance, audits, and organizational transformation.
• Fluent English required; German is strongly preferred and French is an advantage.

Nice to have

• Payroll operations experience in Germany and other European countries.
• Experience with Time & Attendance, workforce management solutions, shared services, Capability Centers, or Hub environments.
• Payroll or project management certification.
• Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
