Senior Software Engineer (PHP)

What you will do

• Design and build high-performance PHP services, background jobs, and REST APIs for financial transactions.
• Develop digital credit workflows covering onboarding, credit scoring, contract creation, electronic signing, disbursement, and ledger updates.
• Integrate KYC, AML, electronic signature, open banking, card acquiring, and interbank payment providers.
• Use hexagonal and DDD architecture, bounded contexts, and orchestration-based Saga patterns.
• Review code, improve architecture and performance, and contribute to technical decisions as the platform scales.
• Own features from design through production while collaborating with product, risk, and compliance stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise.
• Advanced PHP experience, including strict types, object-oriented programming, design patterns, testing, and maintainable architecture.
• Experience with relational database design, indexing, query optimisation, transactions, and data consistency.
• Experience building secure, versioned REST APIs and working with distributed or mission-critical systems.
• Strong testing, Git, CI/CD, asynchronous processing, retry, idempotency, and eventual consistency practices.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, explain trade-offs, and drive complex problems to reliable outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, banking, or other regulated environments.
• Background in systems requiring strong consistency, auditability, or reconciliation.
• Experience with observability, including structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident response.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and production-grade cloud infrastructure experience.
• Experience influencing technical direction across teams.
