Senior Software Engineer (Java/iGaming)

Location: Marousi, Greece; flexible hybrid working

Light & Wonder develops cross-platform games and entertainment technology, including the OpenGaming platform for digital gaming providers.

What you will do

• Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis through testing and delivery.
• Design, build, and run products and services hosted on-premises and in the cloud.
• Write clean, efficient Java code and develop RESTful applications with Spring Boot or related frameworks.
• Review and refactor existing code to improve reliability, robustness, performance, and operability.
• Troubleshoot bugs, run tests, and improve system functionality and performance.
• Lead engineers on large product initiatives, provide technical coaching, and contribute to technical discussions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial experience with Java and web system design and development.
• Experience developing RESTful applications with Spring Boot or related frameworks.
• Familiarity with AWS, cloud-native applications, and microservice architectures.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, DDL, and ACID concepts, as well as non-relational databases.
• Comfort working in Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and spoken communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis or Hazelcast caching strategies.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging systems.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
• Experience leading a small development team and working with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
• Frontend experience with HTML, JavaScript, or React.
