TL;DR
FaST NPI Engineer (Semiconductor): Developing and supporting new semiconductor manufacturing systems in Shanghai with an accent on serviceability, system integration, calibration, diagnostics, and reliability. Focus on troubleshooting optical metrology equipment, validating Alpha/Beta systems, optimizing spare parts and preventive maintenance, and enabling global field-service teams.
Location: Shanghai, China; onsite role with approximately 30% global travel

What you will do
- Influence early product designs by defining serviceability features for calibration, diagnostics, reliability, cost of service, and intellectual property protection.
- Coordinate information between design, engineering, manufacturing, technical support, and service teams.
- Troubleshoot beta, evaluation, installation, and sustaining escalations using structured methodologies such as 7-step, MBPS, and 8D.
- Integrate and validate Alpha/Beta systems, analyze system-level issues, and prepare execution plans for customer and technical support engineers.
- Define training, knowledge-capture, spare-parts, preventive-maintenance, and service-offering requirements for new products.
- Build and update cost-of-service models and collaborate with global field-service teams on product introduction and long-term support.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in physics, optics, or electrical/mechanical engineering with 2 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
- Professional proficiency and fluency in spoken and written English.
- Hands-on system-level troubleshooting experience using hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as DVMs, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
- Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, optical metrology, inspection systems, or spectroscopic and single-wavelength ellipsometry is relevant.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, project management, and data analytics.
- Ability to travel globally approximately 30% of the time, including extended assignments.
