Senior Avionics Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Must be based in Torrance, CA or Rio Rancho, NM

What you will do

• Define and maintain the avionics system architecture, including power distribution, communications, and grounding.
• Lead the integration of flight computers, sensors, power electronics, and RF systems.
• Develop system-level requirements, interface definitions, and integration documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless vehicle subsystem integration.
• Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting during development and assembly.
• Mentor electrical engineers and establish best practices for high-reliability flight electronics.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in designing and integrating avionics or high-reliability embedded systems.
• Strong background in avionics architecture, power distribution, and embedded hardware integration.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer or equivalent.
• Understanding of aerospace communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485, etc.).
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and electrical reliability.
• Must be able to access export-controlled information (ITAR/EAR) and satisfy U.S. citizenship or eligibility requirements.
