TL;DR
Head of Product Design (B2B SaaS/e-commerce): Building and scaling JTL's product design function across its next-generation cloud ERP, shop, and fulfillment products with an accent on design vision, research standards, design systems, and cross-product experience coherence. Focus on developing a product-embedded design organization, linking experience quality to business metrics, and scaling AI-enabled design practices.
Location: Remote-first within Germany, with occasional on-site days mainly in Hürth and Berlin

What you will do
- Own the design vision, principles, quality bar, and contribution of design to product strategy.
- Build the design function from its current team of seven designers into a product-embedded organization working in triads with product management and engineering.
- Plan design capacity, coordinate chapter work, and manage external UX and design support when needed.
- Lead, develop, and expand the design team through clear expectations, feedback, hiring, and organizational structure.
- Establish research standards, operations, tooling, critique practices, and measurable design impact.
- Shape and scale the design system, ensure cross-product coherence, and introduce AI-enabled ways of working across design.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product design experience and 4+ years leading designers, ideally in B2B SaaS or complex product environments.
- Experience building and developing design organizations through hiring, progression, and clear standards.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, including credible design reviews and hands-on contribution when needed.
- Extensive experience establishing research practices and methodologies.
- Experience embedding design as an equal partner in empowered product teams with product management and engineering.
- Fluent English and B1 German required, with the ability to communicate in German in everyday situations.

- Experience building or scaling a design system.
