Cloud Solutions Architect 2 (Contractor) (Cloud)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas; three days remote per week and two mandatory on-site days every Thursday and Friday. Candidates must currently reside within a 50-mile radius of Austin, TX. Relocation candidates will not be considered. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT, with occasional pre-approved evening or weekend work for critical releases.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise IT modernization and cloud transformation initiatives for a Texas state healthcare agency.
• Design cloud architectures, network topologies, and technical specifications across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Plan and execute migrations from on-premises systems to resilient public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Build automated deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code frameworks using Terraform, Ansible, and related tools.
• Design and administer scalable cloud systems aligned with healthcare data governance, identity and access management, and HIPAA requirements.
• Lead technical workgroups, support Agile/Scrum delivery, troubleshoot distributed systems, and train staff on cloud technologies.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of progressive, verifiable experience in enterprise cloud architecture and related technical domains.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, cloud analytics, and network topology design.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, containerization, microservices, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, ARM templates, and Helm.
• Strong scripting and configuration experience with Bash, Korn, PowerShell, cloud CLI tools, YAML, JSON, HCL, and Ruby.
• Experience with cloud security, data governance, compliance, observability platforms, systems analysis, and Agile/Scrum leadership.
• Must currently reside within 50 miles of Austin, Texas and be available for two mandatory on-site days each week.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience architecting enterprise hybrid-cloud platforms, database services, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud AI/ML services and high-throughput big data processing frameworks.
