Application Support Analyst (SQL)

Location: Cape Town, South Africa office; hybrid model with 3 days working from home per week. The role follows UK working hours and public holidays.

What you will do

• Write, troubleshoot, review, and optimize SQL queries, scripts, and Oracle PL/SQL code.
• Own complex database-driven support cases and act as a technical escalation point.
• Perform root cause analysis across database structures, queries, and data integrity.
• Work with clients to gather requirements and translate them into SQL-based solutions.
• Meet SLAs and KPIs while documenting scripts, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
• Mentor junior analysts and participate in UAT for data fixes and database changes.

Requirements

• 3–6+ years of experience in application or technical support within enterprise software.
• Strong hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries from scratch.
• Oracle PL/SQL experience, including stored procedures, triggers, and packages.
• Experience with query performance tuning, indexes, execution plans, and optimization techniques.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, data structures, and large datasets.
• Fluent English and availability to work UK hours.
