Electrical Service Technician (Wind Energy)

Location: Ayrshire, United Kingdom; onsite. The role involves travel to wind turbine sites across the UK, with occasional assignments in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, including stays of two to three weeks away from home when required.

What you will do

• Install and retrofit electrical components on wind energy converters.
• Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Climb wind turbines regularly and work at height while following safety procedures.
• Complete maintenance schedules, risk assessments, method statements, and weekly or monthly reports.
• Carry out 35KV high-voltage switching and related duties after completing the required qualification.
• Manage van stock, coordinate materials, and communicate issues with technicians and the Service Coordinator.

Requirements

• Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ qualification in Electrical or Engineering.
• Time-served apprenticeship and previous commercial electrical or engineering experience.
• Physical fitness and ability to climb and work at height regularly.
• Full, clean driving licence and proficiency with IT packages, including Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to complete mandatory training in wind turbine safety, electrical work, and high-voltage switching.
• Availability for onsite regional travel and occasional extended stays away from home is required.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a similar role within the wind energy sector.
• Experience assisting with mechanical tasks.
