TL;DR
Head of Operations (Clinical Language Services): Owning end-to-end delivery of linguistic validation, cognitive debriefing, clinician review, and certified translation projects with an accent on operational scaling, quality control, and margin management. Focus on building workflows, leading distributed operations teams, managing multilingual vendor capacity, and maintaining audit-ready delivery aligned with ISPOR and ISO 17100 practices.
Location: On-site at the downtown Calgary office, 421 7th Ave SW, Canada. Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.

is a Calgary-based life-sciences language company providing linguistic validation, Clinical Outcome Assessments, cognitive debriefing, clinician review, and certified translation for clinical-trial stakeholders.
What you will do
- Own intake, scheduling, resourcing, quality gates, and on-time delivery across concurrent multilingual projects.
- Lead, hire, train, and develop project managers and coordinators in Calgary and remotely.
- Track delivery performance, turnaround times, project margins, rework, and client escalations.
- Systematize workflows in the in-house project portal, automate repetitive steps, and establish escalation paths.
- Manage quality gates, corrective actions, and audit-ready documentation aligned with ISPOR practices and the ISO 17100 certification program.
- Plan vendor capacity and partner with business development on project scoping and delivery commitments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of operations or production experience in a language service provider, CRO, or comparable deadline-driven professional-services environment.
- 2+ years of team leadership experience.
- Hands-on familiarity with translation production workflows; linguistic validation or COA/clinical translation experience is advantageous.
- Experience creating processes, improving metrics, and growing teams.
- Comfort managing distributed teams and freelance networks across languages and time zones.
- Excellent written and spoken English, on-site availability in Calgary, and legal authorization to work in Canada are required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ISPOR or ISOQOL methodology for COA translation and cognitive debriefing.
- Experience with ISO 17100 or ISO 9001.
- Experience with TMS or CAT tools such as XTM, memoQ, Trados, or Phrase.
- Additional working languages.
