Senior Automation Engineer (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Rensselaer, New York; onsite Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement software and hardware improvements for automated and newly installed equipment under change control.
• Provide PLC- and HMI-based technical support to Manufacturing, Quality Control, Facilities, and other departments.
• Investigate and resolve manufacturing deviations related to automated control systems.
• Design, commission, test, and support process control and monitoring equipment.
• Prepare engineering design documents, technical evaluations, system specifications, and GAMP 5-aligned test plans.
• Author and execute Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test protocols while supporting manufacturing, engineering, validation, and continuous-improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining process control and/or data acquisition systems.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting DeltaV DCS and PLCs.
• Ability to work onsite and wear full cleanroom attire, including safety equipment and sanitized garments.
• Ability to remove jewelry, makeup, and nail adornments when wearing cleanroom attire.

Nice to have

• Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens control system products.
• Experience with video graphic chart recorders.
• Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
