TL;DR
Sr Engineer (AI/ML) (Scientific ML, Engineering Optimization, Systems Architecture): Building and deploying advanced machine learning models and proof-of-concepts for materials discovery, HDD engineering, predictive maintenance, and storage systems with an accent on physics-informed modeling, generative design, and systems optimization. Focus on developing surrogate models for finite-element simulations, applying reinforcement learning and evolutionary algorithms, and optimizing data flows, storage architectures, and filesystems.
Location: Shugart, Singapore; onsite work at the research and design center

What you will do
- Develop state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models for complex physical, engineering, and systems problems.
- Build surrogate models to accelerate computationally expensive finite-element simulations.
- Apply reinforcement learning, Bayesian optimization, evolutionary algorithms, and related methods to engineering design and storage optimization.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and deploy advanced machine learning solutions.
- Collaborate with physicists, materials scientists, firmware engineers, and other domain experts to implement AI solutions.
- Work across scientific machine learning, engineering optimization, or systems architecture for next-generation projects and products.
Requirements
- PhD or master’s degree in computer science, AI/ML, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong foundation in linear algebra, probability, statistics, optimization, and calculus.
- Hands-on experience with supervised or unsupervised learning, deep learning, transformers, or generative AI, including GANs, VAEs, or diffusion models.
- Depth in at least one relevant area: scientific machine learning, generative design, graph neural networks, optimization and reinforcement learning, or systems and storage.
- For systems architecture, strong knowledge of operating-system internals and low-level C or C++ programming is essential.
Nice to have
- Experience with C, C++, or Java.
- Experience with physics-informed neural networks, Fourier neural operators, DeepONet, molecular or material structures, or complex engineering systems.
