Sr Accountant

Location: Onsite at the manufacturing facility in Vernon, BC, Canada, Monday–Friday. Occasional travel to Canadian and US locations, approximately 5%.

Salary: $85,000–$99,000 yearly, plus a competitive bonus structure and additional vacation time accrual.

What you will do

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Manage standard costing, inventory accounting, margin impact analysis, inventory reconciliations, and manufacturing variance reviews.
• Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable transactions, and payroll-related accounting entries.
• Support forecasting, annual operating planning, project accounting, and management reporting.
• Maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance activities for GST/HST, PST, Statistics Canada, and corporate tax requirements.
• Improve accounting processes, ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and multi-company, multi-currency financial operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, costing, and internal controls.
• Experience with payroll accounting, including payroll taxes, earnings and benefits calculations, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to manipulate and model large datasets.
• Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems, strong analytical skills, and successful completion of employment eligibility verification, background checks, and required pre-employment testing.

Nice to have

• Experience in a manufacturing business.
• Proficiency with IFS ERP, SAP, Power BI, or Hyperion Financial Management.
• CPA designation and strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
