2027 Elevate Program and 2028 State and Local Tax - Income Franchise Intern (Accounting)

Location: Chicago; travel to assigned client locations is required

What you will do

• Integrate state and local tax services with existing client engagements.
• Complete tax planning and research assignments.
• Learn and apply state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
• Review client tax processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that reduce tax exposure.
• Analyze historical purchasing and sales data for reporting requirements, audit procedures, refunds, and credits.
• Help clients evaluate and implement sales/use tax software.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited accounting degree program and working toward a B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree.
• At least 90 credit hours completed by the internship.
• Ability to travel to assigned client locations and arrange reliable transportation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a team and in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum 3.4 GPA preferred; anticipated full-time associate start date of Fall 2029 or Winter 2030 for Elevate participants.

Nice to have

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Campus or community leadership experience.
