Software Engineer (Cloud)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, Dogpatch

Salary: $175K–$240K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate systems that deploy the platform within enterprise client cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.
• Develop operators, infrastructure tooling, and automation for bring-your-own-cloud deployments.
• Support client deployments and onboarding alongside enterprise engineering and security teams.
• Partner with forward-deployed engineering to scope requirements and deliver active engagements.
• Diagnose BYOC bottlenecks and improve operational capacity.
• Contribute to architecture while hardening deployment security, reliability, and observability.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and operating backend or infrastructure systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python for backend development and infrastructure tooling.
• Deep familiarity with AWS or GCP, cloud security, and deployment operations.
• Strong understanding of application networking, including VPCs, DNS, secrets, and proxies.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane and GitOps workflows.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with enterprise clients.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, multi-tenant architectures, or customer-controlled environments.
• Experience with AI applications or scientific computing.
• Startup or small-team experience with significant architectural ownership.
• Experience scaling systems during rapid growth.
