Tax Director - State and Local Tax

Location: Remote within the United States; salary information is specific to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, with location-specific ranges provided to other candidates.

What you will do

• Manage and deliver income tax and indirect tax consulting and compliance engagements for clients across industries.
• Conduct nexus studies, taxability analyses, exposure reviews, audit defense, and voluntary disclosure agreements.
• Advise clients on multi-state income tax and indirect tax matters.
• Research and interpret state tax laws, regulations, and rulings.
• Identify tax savings, process improvement, and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop staff and seniors while supporting client relationships and business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• CPA, JD, or MST is preferred.
• At least 9 years of experience in public accounting or industry, focused on state and local tax matters.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance.
• Experience managing engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
