Software Engineer, II - Data Engineering (Robotics)

Location: Remote-first role associated with Ann Arbor, Michigan and Blacksburg, Virginia; US-based position

Salary: $139,000–$166,800 USD annually, plus bonus and stock options

What you will do

• Build AWS-native data ingestion, ETL, storage, and data lake solutions for analytics, simulation, and ML training.
• Create resilient pipelines processing large daily data volumes from vehicle fleets and simulation environments.
• Scale distributed storage, data crawling, discovery, validation, versioning, provenance, and governance.
• Acquire and integrate datasets from internal and external sources.
• Design and deliver cloud-based solutions in collaboration with perception, planning, control, mapping, and vehicle testing teams.
• Participate in business-hours on-call support for deployed systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 0–3+ years of experience.
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining Linux systems.
• Experience building and maintaining workloads in public cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, vector stores, data warehousing, and distributed data stores.
• Practical experience with Bash scripting, Docker, and containerization.
• Experience with DAG-based workflows, test-driven development, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Ray, pandas, NumPy, and AWS serverless architectures.
• Experience with data storage and acquisition for robotics and advanced driver assistance systems.
• Experience owning end-to-end architecture and delivery of cloud-based solutions.
